Who's eligible:
- The business must be for profit. Charitable and non-profit organizations are not eligible.
- Businesses that are located within the United States or its territories.
- The business must meet size standards as set forth by the SBA:
- Manufacturing and Wholesale industry eligibility is determined based on number of employees
- For all other types of industries, eligibility is determined based on revenue.
- The maximum size standards for the most common industries are as follows:
- 500 employees for most manufacturing and mining industries
- 100 employees for all wholesale industries
- $6.5 million for most retail and service industries
- $31 million for most general and heavy construction industries
- $13 million for all special trade contractors
- $750 thousand for most agricultural industries
- Small businesses that derive less than one-third of their annual gross revenue from lottery sales (where legal).

How can SBA loan proceeds be used:
- Purchase and/or construction of real estate.
- Leasehold improvements.
- Machinery
- Equipment
- Furniture
- Working Capital
- Refinancing existing debt as long as it shows at least a 20% improvement in cash flow.
Terms:
- Interest rates may be fixed or variable, but cannot exceed SBA maximums.
- Length of time for repayment will vary, depending on the use of the proceeds and the ability of the business to repay.
Collateral:
- All loans are to be adequately secured.
- Normally business assets are pledged and occasionally personal assets.
- Personal guarantees of the principals are required.
